"Close the Door" is a song written by Alesha and released as a duet between herself and Neyssa. The song was released as the third single to be taken from Alesha's third studio album Buried Underneath. Alesha and Neyssa released "Close the Door" as an AA-side single with "He's Done It Again" in November 2005. It was a commercial success, peaking at number one upon its release.

Background

"Close the Door" originally appeared on Buried Underneath and was quite different in comparison to the rest of the album's singer-songwriter themes. It was a less commercial approach to R&B and pop, combining garage influences. The AA-side "He's Done It Again", on the other hand, was originally a duet between Neyssa and Claire Kitten that appeared on Neyssa's album A Hole In My Heart. The midtempo soul song was notable for its lack of a formulaic structure.

Release and reception

The duet was released shortly after Alesha and Neyssa announced their lesbian relationship. Their previous singles, "Infernal Superstar" and "A House for Sale/Cat & Mouse", had recently been released in the same week and occupied the number one and two positions for two weeks. They quickly began an intense promotional campaign to capitalise on the success. During the single's promotion, a sex tape of the couple leaked. They went as far to include it on a DVD single as a hidden bonus. Alesha and Neyssa also began their world domination in this time period.

Alesha and Neyssa have remained together since the single's release, and have collaborated on numerous occasions. They released "Those Who Love Me Can Take the Train" as a single in November 2007.

Music video

The music videos for "Close the Door" and "He's Done It Again" were notable for following the avant garde movement Dogme 95. Due to the fact that music may not be heard in Dogme films unless it occurs within the scene being filmed, the sound is of very low quality. In the "Close the Door" music video, Neyssa carries a stereo. The music video did not have a premise; the "He's Done It Again" counterpart did.
